straight off the tumblr blog
Just finished another 12-hour work Monday... *falls to the floor* Work has been the busiest I can remember in a while. Fortunately I only have five weeks left of these Mondays so at the very least there's an end in sight! Since AO3 is still down, I thought I'd unwind by doing some ~blogging~ instead.
Obviously work has taken up a lot of my time lately. Sadly I haven't even gotten to see any more of the movies I'd like to go to - the AMC A-List subscription is burning a hole in my pocket. I've pretty much only had the energy to *ahem* rewatch episodes of The Pitt and get myself together enough to finish this season of The Traitors. I haven't even gotten to the Survivor 50 premiere yet! Ugh. I did start watching the second half of the new Bridgerton season yesterday and boy am I bored. I can't tell if it was just more fun to watch when I was sick or if Bridgerton is just really bad at the back halves of seasons. I think I have one episode left to go - I'll try to finish it tonight.
I've absolutely loved the last couple episodes of The Pitt. Getting to see Jack and Robby working together again is like a balm to my soul or something. They are just so unbelievably good on the screen together. I feel like every free second I've had in the past two weeks has been overtaken by wanting to gif something or other. I have made *checks notes* THIRTEEN gifsets from the last two episodes alone which is really ridiculous. Just spending an absurd amount of time looking at Jack Abbot's face (and/or tits).
I have been listening to a bunch of new music. Now that I've actually gotten to listen to the whole Charli XCX Wuthering Heights album a bunch, I can say my favorite tracks are definitely House feat. John Cale, Dying for You, Chains of Love, and Out of Myself. The whole album is excellent though - House is one of the best Movie Soundtrack songs I've heard in ages and I am obsessed with how so much of it sounds like her first album True Romance. I'm actually really glad that Charli was able to do something really specific and different to follow brat. I do fear that we are not gonna get much Charli music for a while after this.
I've also been listening to XG's new album The Core on repeat. I had only vaguely heard of them, but I got hooked on that Hypnotize dance invading my FYP on TikTok. From what I understand, technically XG is not a kpop group - the members are all Japanese and under a Japanese label - but I believe they are South Korea based/trained. Not only is that Hypnotize chorus really catchy but the choreo is so fun... like so fun that I wish I had the ability to learn it properly LOL. This is the first kpop/kpop adjacent album I've really wanted to listen to in full in so long. It's really fun!!! They have a lot of that 2010s house-pop sound plus some R&B influence. My favorite tracks are Gala, Rock The Boat, Hypnotize, and Up Now.
Also I am loving Slayyyter's latest release in the unbelievable, generational track run she's had. Old Technology is a banger. I mean one of the first lyrics is "straight off the tumblr blog," obviously I was going to love this LMAO. And yes, Slayyyter is indeed very active on tumblr.
Okay is it just me or is AO3 briefly back online right now!! maybe I'll go try to download some stuff to read tonight... that is if I don't pass out in bed in approximately 30 minutes.
